New Jersey Republicans Seeking State Office Running on Anti-Casino Smoking Platforms Assemblyman Vince Polistina (R-Egg Harbor) and Don Guardian, the former Republican mayor of Atlantic City, say they both oppose allowing gamblers to light up inside casinos. Indoor casino  smoking resumed July 4  following the extinguishment of New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy’s (D) temporary ban because of  COVID-19. I think the fact that casino revenue during the smoking ban was up over  10 percent in 2021 , as compared to the same time in 2019, we can see the ban did not hurt business,” Guardian opined this week. “With health as the top priority as we come out of the pandemic, we need to realize our casino employees and guests are placed at risk each time they enter a casino. They need our help.” Guardian, a one-term Atlantic City mayor who lost his reelection bid to the now-disgraced Frank Gilliam, is running to oust Assemblyman John Armato (D-Buena) in the 2nd Legislative Dist...

Atlantic City Brick-and-Mortar February Revenue Improves, Casinos Look to Warm Months Gross gaming revenue (GGR) from retail slot machines and table games inched closer to numbers experienced just before COVID-19 hit the United States. Atlantic City’s nine casinos reported February 2020 GGR of $218.3 million. Though last month was still below February 2020 by 2.7%, the industry is inching closer to reaching pre-pandemic business levels. January 2022 casino numbers were more than  4% below January 2020 . While retail play continues to return, iGaming continues to surge. February GGR from interactive slots and tables, plus poker rake, totaled just shy of $130 million. That’s 39% better than February 2021, and 150% higher than February 2020. With approximately $30.8 million from sports betting added in, total GGR for New Jersey’s statewide gaming industry for February 2022 was $373.2 million. That’s a nearly 30% year-over-year premium. ผู้สนับสนุน  สล็อตแตกง่าย

Cosmopolitan Las Vegas Now MGM Venue as Buyer Rapidly Completes Purchase As is par for the course under its asset-lite methodology, MGM doesn’t own any of Cosmopolitan’s real estate. A group comprised of the Cherng Family Trust, Stonepeak Partners, and Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust (BREIT) paid $4 billion for the integrated resort’s property assets. MGM entered a 30-year lease agreement with that consortium at an initial annual rate of $200 million. That rises 2% per year over the first 15 years. After that, the yearly increase is 2% or whatever the rise is  by the Consumer Price Index  (CPI), capped at 3%. After the initial 30-year term, MGM has three 10-year renewal options. ผู้สนับสนุน  สล็อตแตกง่าย

Oakland A’s Trim Las Vegas Search to Two Venues, Public Funding Not Off Table A’s President Dave Kaval met with landowners and local leaders in Las Vegas last week, but didn’t speak with the media. An unidentified source with knowledge of the matter told the  Las Vegas Review-Journal   the meetings were productive and that the team’s Sin City search now centers on two undisclosed sites. That’s down from a previous group of five, though the local rumor mill indicates the club’s search has long centered on a stadium at the site of the Tropicana, and unused land owned by Wynn Resorts. The  property assets of the Tropicana are owned  by Gaming and Leisure Properties. ผู้สนับสนุน  สล็อตแตกง่าย

Fake VIP Room Hoax Henchmen Sentenced in Macau Sixteen individuals, arrested last year, have been sentenced by Macau’s Court of First Instance for their involvement in running a twisted VIP room hoax in a Cotai luxury hotel room last year. The Macau Post  reported that the sixteen arrestees were actually operating as part of a larger criminal syndicate. It reported that the syndicate duped individuals, primarily high rollers from the mainland, into playing in one of their VIP rooms, which turned out to be simply luxury hotel presidential and corporate suites which were transformed into believable VIP rooms, completely fooling the punters who thought they were getting the full treatment on behalf of the hotel. Drugs and Sedatives Found Around $12.5 million worth of betting chips were seized during the arrest last year by the local authorities, along with numerous gambling and non-gambling paraphernalia, such as collapsible baccarat gaming tables, small amounts of drugs and se...

Bet365: Coming to America Via Hard Rock New Jersey Sports Betting Deal Bet365 has signed an agreement with New Jersey’s Hard Rock to provide sports betting. The online betting giant appears to have gained its first foothold in the US, but its unlikely to be its last. (Image: Bet365) With more than 23 million customers globally,  Bet365  is among the largest online gambling companies in the world and has the potential to inject some serious marketing capital into the New Jersey sports betting sector, which is not yet a month old. The deal was revealed yesterday by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE), but appears to have been in the pipeline for several weeks, at least. As spotted by Eric Ramsey of  Play NJ , a letter from DGE director David Rebuck on the Division’s website reveals Bet365 and the Hard Rock signed a letter of intent on June 19 to launch a sports wagering alliance. Rebuck provisionally signed off the deal on June 25, but a formal a...

Permanent Las Vegas Memorial Likely Years Away, LVCVA and MGM Resorts in Challenging Position as Supporters The 58 crosses constructed for the makeshift Las Vegas memorial that was created by the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign just days after the shooting have since been moved to the Clark County Museum. (Image: Tom Tingle/USA TODAY) One thing is certain, anyway: a permanent Las Vegas memorial honoring the 58 victims who lost their lives on October 1, 2017 in the deadliest US mass shooting in modern history is likely years away before the commemorative structure is finalized. And that’s probably as it should be: those with experience in dealing with tragic events and grief healing are urging Las Vegas officials to proceed slowly in designing a memorial to the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting. LVCVA in Tenuous Position The LVCVA says when the time comes, it will do what it can to facilitate the memorial design and implementation. Authority spokesperson Jacqueline Pet...

Wynn Land Deal Shows Deep Connections Between Wynn, Trump, and Ruffin But the deal did serve as a reminder of just how interlinked the dealings of many billionaire casino magnates can be, including some of the largest developers in Las Vegas and the current President of the United States. Over the years, the site that was purchased has been owned by a number of groups who had big plans for the land, though nothing has come of any of these recent projects. Going far back, the land was the home of the New Frontier, a hotel that was imploded about 10 years ago. Packer Was Latest Billionaire to Fail to Build on Site Most recently, the majority of the  plot purchased by Wynn  was owned by James Packer’s Crown Resorts with the purpose of building a casino resort known as Alon. But Packer backed out last year before any sort of construction had begun, choosing to sell the vacant lot north of Fashion Show Drive instead. The sale of that land to Wynn Resorts should be finalized ...

Las Vegas’ Mirage Volcano Days Numbered, But Online Petition Wants Landmark Spared Frankly, it should be a historical landmark — hopefully we can elevate the cause to such a high level!,”  the petition reads.  “The volcano is among the “most unique forms of art and entertainment.” As of now, the change in operators becomes effective later this year. Historic Landmark Created by Elaine Wynn Three decades ago, The Mirage volcano became the first “free spectacle” in Las Vegas, Anthony Curtis of  LasVegasAdvisor.com  explained to  Travel Weekly , a national publication. It was followed by the Bellagio fountains, the pirates at Treasure Island, and lights at the Fremont Street Experience, he added. Elaine Wynn, the ex-wife of former casino mogul Steve Wynn, came up with the idea for the volcano, Michael Green, a history professor at UNLV, further told  Travel Weekly .  ผู้สนับสนุน  สูตรสล็อต

Why Africa couldn’t get urgent global deal on drought Africa has been hit by 14 extreme droughts in the past two years alone - far more than any other continent - and the UN is warning that some 20 million people are at risk in East Africa this year after the rains failed once more. So it was fitting that Ivory Coast hosted this month's UN-convened summit on the devastating effects of the three Ds - drought, desertification, and degradation of land. However, not much was achieved at the two-week-long meeting in Abidjan to tackle these crises. Many African countries argued for a legally binding global agreement to tackle droughts - something like the Kyoto protocol launched in 1997 to cut down carbon emissions, sources told the BBC. Uganda and Angola were among the states to amplify the demand of the Africa bloc. But they were keen to ensure that it wasn't seen as being a problem for Africa alone - they wanted drought to be treated as a global problem, to ensure it received gl...

What Didi's US exit tells us about China and Wall Street Less than a year after its US market debut, Chinese ride-hailing giant Didi Global is set to leave Wall Street. A majority of shareholders voted on Monday to stop trading the firm's shares via the New York Stock Exchange. The company says the delisting is key to completing a cybersecurity review to relist in Hong Kong and resume normal operations in China. The move comes as China's major technology companies face intense scrutiny at home and abroad. Beijing has been pursuing a wide-ranging crackdown on the industry, from  slapping e-commerce firm Alibaba with a record fine  to  ordering social media giant Tencent to suspend the roll out of new apps . It ordered Didi to be removed from app stores last year and launched an investigation, citing data collection concerns,  days after the firm moved forward with its New York listing, reportedly against authorities' wishes. In recent weeks, faced with slower e...

Quad: The China factor at the heart of the summit Leaders of the Quad nations are meeting in Tokyo on Tuesday in what can be described as one of the most important meetings in recent years that will affect the geopolitics and security of the Indo-Pacific region. The group - composed of Japan, the US, Australia and India - seems to be emerging from the shadows of the Covid-19 pandemic and, to some degree, from Russia's invasion of Ukraine as well. The top leaders are gathering for the fourth time - they have already met once in Washington last September and twice virtually - in less than two years. That underscores the importance of the Quad, which was largely just a concept until 2017. That year, then-US President Donald Trump revived the group in a bid to take on China in its own backyard. But analysts say the steady decline in each Quad nation's bilateral ties with China in the past few years appears to have given it new impetus. Michael Kugelman, deputy director at the Wil...

Pampered pooches ride Japan's Shinkansen in style Oh to be a pampered pooch on one of Japan's iconic Shinkansen trains heading to a beautiful resort town. For the first time, 21 furry friends were allowed to roam free in a special pet-friendly carriage on Saturday, as part of a trial by Japan Railways (JR). Dogs must usually travel in a carrier when riding the high-speed trains which speed all over the country. However pet ownership is big business in Japan, and demand for easier pet travel is increasing. The dogs, which included Corgis, Pomeranians and Schnauzers, boarded at Tokyo's Ueno station, and made the hour long journey to the mountainous town of Karuizawa, north west of the capital. Their owners - sitting on plastic-covered seats - relaxed with their dogs, instead of having to worry that they were distressed or uncomfortable. ผู้สนับนุน  https://zanga168.com/

The sci-fi technology tackling malarial mosquitos It recognises the natural gene version of itself in the opposite chromosome from parent B, and destroys it, by cutting it out of the DNA chain. Parent B's chromosome then repairs itself - but does so, by copying parent A's gene drive. So, the embryo, and the resulting offspring, are all but guaranteed to have the gene drive, rather than a 50% chance with standard GM - because an embryo takes half its genes from each parent. ผู้สนับสนุน  https://zanga168.com/

Why are there continent-sized 'blobs' in the deep Earth? These elusive minerals can only be seen in their natural form when they become trapped inside diamonds brought to the surface. Even then, what these crystals would actually look like deep inside the Earth is impossible to predict, because their physical properties are so altered by the pressures they usually exist under.  ผู้สนับสนุน   https://zanga168.com/

Palm oil firms depriving tribes of millions of dollars Buy something in a supermarket and there's a good chance it will contain palm oil. Follow it back through the supply chain and eventually you'll find an oil palm tree, likely in Indonesia. But the companies that sell it to major firms like Johnson & Johnson, Kellogg's and Mondelēz are depriving indigenous communities of potentially millions of dollars of income, a joint BBC investigation has found. Mat Yadi traces the path of the river, his spear ready to strike. But today, like most days, he doesn't catch anything. "Before there were lots of pigs, deer, antelope and hedgehogs," he says. "Now there's hardly anything alive." He's an Orang Rimba - one of the last nomadic tribes in Indonesia. For generations they have lived from the jungle on the island of Sumatra - harvesting rubber as well as hunting and gathering fruits. In the 1990s, a palm oil company arrived in their remote home ...
